Maureen Baker

Maureen Baker

Maureen Baker has family relations and connections to country in Tjukurla, WA and Kanpi in South Australia where she lived with her husband for many years and painted at Tjungu Palya art centre. After her husband passed away Maureen returned to her own country in 2018 and now resides with family in Warakurna. She is sister to Polly Butler Jackson, Lucy Nelson, Mark Butler, Ruth Bates and Michael Butler. Maureen paints her grandmother’s country of Tjukurla as well as the Seven Sisters Dreaming which runs from Wanarn through to Docker River. In addition to painting, Maureenis an invaluable staff member of Warakurna Artists, providing support toartists as an Artsworker.
